Hora’s sound is built on a backbone of fuzzed-out doom with prominent doses of classic heavy metal and other influences. From the spacey intro on first track ‘The Judge’s Conceit’, to the monolithic final chords of closer ‘Lament of the Condemned’, Hora establishes a crushing sound replete with grooving riffs, melodic leads, and dynamic song structures.

Lyrically, the three songs are inspired by the Cornish witch trials of the 17th century, and the witch’s tower at Launceston Gaol, which is said to be the site of witch burnings. Each song considers a different actor in the trials - the judge, the executioner, and the condemned. The songs of this EP came together organically over the course of extended live jam sessions in the past year, and form the first half of the Witch Trial Sessions.

Had to have ALL DUSK releases, and this debut EP was missing in my BC collection, and to be honest, in some aspects, I like it even better than the newest album. It is really RAW, just like I like them, so if you like old-school trad hard rock / HM with amazing vocals by a front-lady whose angel aspects with a devilish voice is what stimulates your fibers, you must get this one too !! sachavonkarl74

I don't think there's any band that sounds quite like Skull Servant does. The songs hit hard and heavy while maintaining a strong melody, and the two singers provide a contrast that makes every song feel unique. The crunchy guitar and bass tone puts a lot of power behind the riffs, and the songwriting and arrangement makes this feel like a concept album. If there's one thing Skull Servant does best, it's creating music that is dynamic and ever changing. revengebymagick
